Guide Service Permit Application

Please use the form below to submit your permit renewal information so that we can gather current information to determine whether your Guide Service’s permit for commercial guiding on the Ouray Via Ferrata will accepted.

After filling out the form below and hitting “Submit” your application and attachments will be transmitted to us electronically. If you have additional information, documentation, or attachments you would like to send via email, please address all correspondence to Friends of Ouray Via Ferrata – [email protected].

Any questions concerning this application may be submitted in writing to [email protected].  Please review your application carefully. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

  • Applications to guide for the 2024 Summer Season will be accepted between April 10 and May 1, 2024.
  • Please note that for the 2024 Ouray Via Ferrata Operating Season, minimum guide qualifications have changed such that at least one of the following are required for all guides:
    • Completed American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Rock Guide Course
    • AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) Certification

  • Please describe any accidents, injuries, or deaths that your organization has experienced in the previous 3 years.
  • Briefly describe your organizations current protocols for risk management as it applies to your operations on the Ouray Via Ferrata. Also describe you policies with regard to climbing equipment care, maintenance, and replacement. If need be you may submit your organization risk management policies and documents as an attachment.

    Please provide FOVF with a copy of your Liability Waiver and Assumption of Risk Form. Waiver/Form must specifically indemnify Friends of Ouray Via Ferrata, and the City of Ouray.

    Please submit a signed copy of the Commercial Guiding Agreement & Permit. You need only attach the first page and the last page (signature page) to this form.
  • All applications require a minimum $350 Application Fee which will be applied to your final season total with respect to post use fees. Daily use fees will be $10 per guest on the Ouray Via Ferrata route. Final end of season fees will be: Total # of Clients x $10 = ??? (less initial $350 pre-season payment). Fees will be collected no later than November 15, 2024. Fees can be mailed to: Friends of Ouray Via Ferrata, PO Box 1214 Ouray, CO 81427
  • Describe how your organization has supported or engaged with the OVF and/or the City of Ouray Community previously, and how your operation will benefit the citizens and businesses of the City of Ouray.
